PTC Heater
PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heater is a heating system for electric vehicles and some of internal combustion engine vehicles. Especially the PTC heater in electric vehicle systems is highly important for maintaining the performance of the vehicle batteries in cold weather like winter as well as heating up the compartment for driver and passenger. Since its power consumption is directly connected to the performance of the vehicle, it has a great influence on the travel distance. Therefore, the following characteristics such as leakage at high voltage and low on resistance during operation (ON Resistance (RDS(ON)) in addition to robustness and reliability are considered important for power semiconductors used in PTC heaters in order to improve power efficiency.
