Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is a system to maintain a pleasant environment inside a vehicle. In an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, the HVAC system is powered by the engine, whereas electric vehicles directly consume power through batteries, hence high energy efficiency of HVAC is required. Since the energy efficiency of HVAC directly affects the travel distance of an electric vehicle, efficiency becomes critical when selecting a power semiconductor for HVAC.
